John M. Egan, CFP®| Managing Director, Partner

John Egan

When John Egan set out to build a wealth management practice, he didn’t want to take over the world; he wanted to provide solid answers and ideas through long-term relationships. Egan Wealth Advisors was founded to help families build and manage wealth—through personal relationships in a family atmosphere.

Proof points? When you visit Egan Wealth Advisors, you can relax in the historic old house that houses the firm (and maybe get a chance to give Mia a rub behind her ears). You’ll feel the sense of family as you chat with the close team John has assembled.

John’s a Jersey boy; he grew up in West Orange, attended Seton Hall Prep, then headed off to college in Vermont at St. Michael’s; upon graduation, he returned to his NJ roots and built the firm in Madison, just down the street from his home. The Bay Head office? Not far from the shore house where John spends summer (and fall and spring and sometimes weekend) days. The point? John built Egan Wealth Advisors to serve the people he calls friends, the people he lives amongst—and each relationship is special.

John’s professional credentials include the Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP) and membership in myriad industry organizations, such as the FPA and the Society for Financial Professionals. John has a love of tennis and has a goal of coaching high school tennis and probably part of the long-term retirement dream though he has no plans or inclination to step back from the practice he built—a dream.

When you chat with John, be sure to ask about:

1. His son Brian, involved in the media and film industry in New York City—John is extraordinarily proud (ask for plans for/pictures of Brian’s big wedding in Venice)!

2. His daughter Kelsey, who worked in the family business before she followed her heart to an amazing career in interior design and interior architecture—John’s rightfully proud of her too and many of the projects are unique and amazing, ask John about them!

3. His wife Susan, who grew up in John’s neighborhood in West Orange and later became his high school sweetheart. Susan and John have lived and raised their family in Madison, New Jersey for the last 38 years and now split their time between Madison and their beloved summer home on the Jersey Shore in the town of Mantoloking.

4. His abiding interest in history. John is the trustee of the Hartley Dodge Foundation and oversees the historic Hartley Dodge Memorial building in Madison, built by Geraldine Dodge in memory of her son Hartley and home to an unbelievable catalog of art. (Follow-up question, “Tell me the story of the Abraham Lincoln life-sized painting the former president sat for…”)
